After 'Smilla' I read 'Borderliners' and then 'The woman and the ape' ages ago. Loved them all. Now I am reading Borderliners again, after having read Stieg Larssen's 'Millenium Trilogy'. Not that there is any comparison in literary style but there is a similar undercurrent of violence, cruelty and depravity. Makes me wonder if something is seriously wrong in Skandinavian societies: cool, clean, modern, progressive, democratic, egaliterian on the surface but seriously flawed and troubled underneath.
